The ASD Parenting Together Support Group is an online peer support group where parents and carers of children with confirmed or suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can make new social connections, as well as increase their knowledge and confidence in parenting neurodiverse children.
Parenting and caring for children experiencing neurodiversity, such as ASD, can come with many additional challenges such as:
- Increased family stress,
- Increased daily worry,
- Financial strain,
- Sleep disruption,
- Managing your child's sensory preferences, emotional needs, and challenging behaviours, and
- Coordinating multiple supports including NDIS, respite agencies, medical/allied health appointments.
The ASD Parenting Together Support Group meets weekly via Zoom video conferencing and aims to promote social connectedness and empowerment. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers that will join the group every few weeks to share their knowledge and experiences. Previous guest speakers have included professionals from AMAZE, the Association for Children with a Disability, Barwon Health, and Geelong Meditation Centre.
