Ocean Grove singer/songwriter, Andrea Robertson, has an innate ability to create breathtaking soulful-blues songs blended with contemporary folk, and even hints of country and rock.
Her songwriting ranges from the stompy, toe-tapping variety, rocky/blues numbers right through to songs with a smooth and soulful edge, even hints of country/rockabilly at times.
Lyrics are thought provoking and a reflection of what life brings along in both the ordinary and extraordinary.
Andrea’s songwriting is well-crafted, her vocals are effortless, and her musical arrangements always hit the mark. The end result…a fresh, warm and engaging sound that appeals to a wide audience, allowing listeners to momentarily escape the busyness that life inherently brings.
Andrea's gigs (regardless of where they may be) are always family friendly in content.
Performances can be as a solo artist or as a duo, through to larger bands - with other musicians regularly joining her at gigs depending on what sound is desired (ie. a stripped back acoustic vibe or fuller/larger band sound), and she can supply her own p.a./speakers/equipment.
She has also been in the position of leader/director of the The Tides of Welcome, a community choir based in Queenscliff, since September 2014. The Choir meets weekly during school terms at the Queenscliff Neighbourhood House.
Andrea is also a private music tutor (piano and singing), runs the classroom music program at St Leonards Primary School which is job-shared with her drummer/husband, David Robertson, and she also runs the music group "Ocean Grove Acoustic Sessions" with David which meets monthly in Ocean Grove.
The group is aimed at adults (including young adults) who can already play instruments at an intermediate level and above, and who want the opportunity to jam with other musicians in a friendly, relaxed environment, without the pressure of performing or organising gigs etc or perhaps to build confidence so that they are able to cope better in a performance setting.
