The Lounge International Student Centre provides a welcoming and inclusive space for International, Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students and their families in Geelong. We offer a range of services and activities that foster connection, personal growth, and community engagement. These include:

  • Support Services: Access to resources and guidance tailored to the unique needs of international students.
  • Events and Workshops: Programs focused on well-being, cultural exchange, professional development, and social inclusion.
  • Collaboration Opportunities: Partnering with local organizations and community groups to create impactful initiatives.

These include: Study Melbourne: We are a recipient of the Study Melbourne Inclusion Program grant, which supports initiatives to promote diversity, inclusion, and well-being among international students. The Salvation Army Geelong: Our collaboration with the Salvation Army helps ensure that we provide valuable resources and community support to students and their families. The Gordon: We work closely with The Gordon to offer students and the community access to educational resources and support services. Deakin College: Our partnership with Deakin College allows us to connect with international students and provide programs that support their academic and personal development. Study Geelong: Through Study Geelong, we promote Geelong as a great place for international students to live, learn, and thrive. Anthony Costa Foundation: With support from the Costa Foundation, we work towards improving the experiences of international students by offering opportunities for community engagement and personal growth. Geelong Food Relief: We collaborate with Geelong Food Relief to provide essential support, including free food and groceries, to international students in need. Additionally, we are always open to collaborating with other student and community organizations to further our mission of supporting international students in Geelong.

The Lounge International Student Centre offers a wide range of services to support international students in Geelong, helping them feel welcomed and integrated into the community. These services include: Orientation and Support: Personalized guidance to help students navigate life in Geelong, covering accommodation, transport, healthcare, and legal rights. Well-being Services: Mental health resources, stress management workshops, and peer support to encourage emotional well-being and resilience. Cultural Exchange and Social Events: Engaging activities and events that celebrate cultural diversity, helping students connect and build a sense of belonging. Professional Development: Workshops on skills like resume writing, job interviews, and workplace rights to improve career prospects. Free Dinner and Groceries: Bi-weekly dinners and free groceries to help students save on living costs while fostering a sense of community. Peer Networking: Opportunities for students to meet and engage with others, creating a strong support network. These services are designed to provide international students with the tools and support they need to thrive academically, socially, and personally while living in Geelong.
Eligibility: The Lounge International Student Centre primarily serves international students, higher degree by research students, and their families, as well as graduates and their families. These groups are welcome to access our services, including support, events, resources, and community activities aimed at enhancing their experience in Geelong. Some activities, such as free groceries, may be subject to availability or specific requirements
Volunteer opportunities: Yes - At the Lounge, we offer a range of volunteer opportunities to help support the international student community in Geelong. Volunteers can contribute in several ways: Lounge Ambassador Program: As an ambassador, you'll take on a variety of tasks, including event planning, community outreach, and representing the Lounge at local events. You'll rotate through different teams such as social media, event coordination, and special projects to gain diverse experiences. General Volunteers: These volunteers provide day-to-day support at the Lounge, helping with tasks like setting up events, providing assistance during workshops, and supporting ongoing programs. You'll also help with event-specific support, including organizing and promoting events and assisting in the distribution of resources like free groceries and food. Volunteering with the Lounge not only allows you to make a positive impact on the international student community, but also offers opportunities for personal growth, professional development, and networking. Ambassadors, in particular, will receive free training and gain valuable experience to boost their CVs.
