Murnong Community Garden

Murnong Community Garden is a new community garden open to all of the community.

The garden is becoming a gathering place where people can enjoy a shared communal space and shared communal vegetable and herb plots. The garden is open at all times to everyone in the community. You are invited to come and take some vegetables/harbs for your next meal. There are often picked vegetables on the table in the shelter for you to take or you can pick others that are ready.

We are actively creating a habitat that will improve the ecology of the area and are implementing organic gardening practices that improve the soil and plants while counteracting the negative effect of climate change.

We have a working bee every Wednesday 3-5 pm, (5-7pm daylight saving and Saturday between 3-5 pm with drinks, nibbles following (BYO). We also  have a workshop on the last Satruday of the month between 10-12 noon, that includes food/produce swap, shared lunch and a chat. Workshops today include composting, making a worm farm. Always keen to hear ideas about future topics or presenters. There is always a range of tasks at working bees for every ability.

We have a committee meeting every two months and everyone is welcome.

We have a number of subgroups for people who are interested in ongoing planning of the garden and area- these groups include signage, marketing plan, planting planning etc. What ever your skills or interests there is a role for you if you would like to become more involved.

A local child care centre visit weekly and we are interested in hearing from any other groups that are keen to  utilise the space. It is accessible for all mobility aids and we have wheelchair accessible beds available. There is a large sheltered area.

You are invited to pay a $20 per adult annual membership which provides insurance.

Membership is not essential to utilise the garden.
