Stroke Association of Victoria

Barwon Stroke Support Centre

The Stroke Association of Victoria (SAV) is driving an Australian-first community-based support service, focused on ensuring community inclusion for the 100,000 Victorians living with the effects of stroke. Our aim is to bridge the gap from when a stroke survivor leaves clinical care to when they return home and are faced with the challenges of re-engaging with the community.

Our Stroke Support Centres are a local hub for all stroke survivors transitioning out of clinical care, where they can receive non-clinical, hands-on support and education on real-life needs and services, no matter what stage of their stroke recovery journey they are at. They provide a safe and supportive, inclusive, community-based place for stroke survivors to continue their self-led recovery and make social connections.
