The Choir
Music at the Basilica Inc has formed an exciting choral group, Windfire Chamber Choir, to present choral music. We warmly invite singers and experienced members of choral groups and senior school choirs to join. The choir will give two performances each year, most often in the Basilica of St Mary of the Angels, Geelong.
The music
The choir gave its inaugural performance, conducted by Rick Prakhoff, on Wednesday 27 March 2013.
The major work was Franz Liszt’s Via Crucis (The Way of the Cross).
Other performances included Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Te Deum, Vivaldi’s Magnificat and the music of Purcell. Our most recent performance will be JS Bach's St John Passion
The Artistic Director
Frank De Rosso, OAM founded Music at the Basilica Inc. to present concerts of sacred music in at the Basilica of St Mary of the Angels, Geelong. He is dedicated to preserving sacred music from the ancient to the contemporary in solo, ensemble, instrumental and choral settings.
The Conductor - Joseph Hie
Joseph is is an emerging conductor who began his musical training at the age of 16. He holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the University of Melbourne, and has been accepted by for the Master of Conducting (Performance Studies) at the Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide.
His performance experience encompasses Opera, Oratorio, and Choral works, conducting and musically directing organisations such as the Monash University Choral Society, Melbourne Bach Choir, BK Opera, Essendon Chorale Society, and Windfire Chamber Choir.
In 2020, the Monash University Choral Society will join the MSO in Sir Andrew Davis’ program of Mahler 8 titled ‘Symphony of a Thousand’. Other exciting concerts include Massenet’s Werther with BK Opera, as well as one of Dubois’ best known works – The Seven Last Words of Christ.

Music will be supplied.
The dress code will be all-black, full length, with long or three-quarter sleeves, for everyone.
