Each week the Australian Red Cross Blood Service needs to collect almost 27,000 donations to ensure the patients and hospitals receive the blood they need.
Donated blood goes to helping cancer patients, people with heart disease, stomach and bowel diseases, trauma and accident patients, new born babies and pregnant women.

In many ways, the Australian Red Cross Blood Service is a reflection of many of the best qualities of Australia and Australians.
The Blood Service is remarkable in that its very existence depends on the continued support of more than 520,000 generous Australians who give their time and their blood as a gift or donation.
