Geelong West Occasional Care Inc

Geelong West Occasional Care is a unique community, not for profit, education and care service. We provide short periods of care for children under school age, with a range of sessions available each day - 3,4 or 5 hours.

Families can access occasional care on either a Permanent or Casual basis, bookings are required.

Our Educators are warm, friendly, passionate, qualified educators who welcome children from all ages, cultures and abilities into our service.

Monday to Thursday, we offer mixed-age sessions, sometimes referred to as ‘Family Grouping’. This is the name given to groups of children of mixed ages, as its composition more closely resembles that of a family, than the more popular choice of grouping children in care by age.

We find mixed-age groupings allow children the ability to enhance their social and emotional skills, language development, as well as intellectual and physical development with children from a broad age range.

We aim to provide a nurturing environment for both family and child, and we look forward to working in close partnership with families to achieve positive outcomes for children. GWOC aims to provide quality education and care programs for all children and families.

Our "We are 3" program is delivered each week, on a Friday. It is a program for young children aged 3 or older, delivered by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The “We are 3” program is a great addition for children who are already attending 3 year old kindergarten, or as an introduction before formal kindergarten begins as a 4 year old. Within this program the children learn many life skills, such as:

  • social skills
  • rmotional skills
  • language, literacy and numeracy skills and
  • participation in Group activities.

Total of 30 places. Families are eligible to use services a maximum of 3 times or 15 hours per week.
