Registration process
  • Check to see if your organisation or group is already registered in the directory
  • If your organisation or group is already listed, you don't need to add the details again, however you might want to update your listing if any information is incorrect
  • If your organisation or group is not listed in the directory, you will need a myGeelong account first before you can register..

    Please note: all new entries must be approved by the City of Greater Geelong before they can be published.
Registration costs
Registering your organisation in the community directory is free of charge.
New listings

You can check your eligibility for the community directory from the checklist below. We accept listings from:

  • Community groups or not for profit organisations – Incorporated and Unincorporated    
  • Charitable Trusts/Foundations    
  • Schools or Universities    
  • Housing/tenancy organisations    
  • Community service organisations (for example: Community Health Centres, DHS, Disability Providers, Government Departments)    
  • Children’s service providers    
  • Church and religious organisations    
  • Community facilities    
  • Aboriginal organisations    
  • Clubs (for example: sporting, recreational, senior citizens)    
  • Community legal service providers    
  • Parliamentarians    
  • Local government departments    
  • Local artists, groups, art and culture organisations    

All listings in the community directory must be based in or have a branch in Geelong or surrounding municipalities, or have regular meetings in Geelong or surrounding municipalities.

New listings are only permitted to be added by an authorised member of your organisation or group.

All entries are verified by the City of Greater Geelong who approves your entry before it is made available on the website.

The Community Directory does not generally include commercial business listings. Your entry may however be approved if you are an Arts and Culture business.

The Arts Directory is open to individual artists, organisations and businesses involved in arts and culture across the G21 region. Arts registrations will be approved separately by the City of Greater Geelong's Arts and Culture Department.

Registration terms and conditions

The City of Greater Geelong has the right to deny the posting of any listings that do not adhere to the guidelines. We can:

  1. Refuse, reject and terminate any listing or website at any time for any reason and are under no obligation to provide reason

  2. Remove information which is political, racist, unlawful, threatening, abusive, indecent, pornographic or defamatory

  3. Modify or discontinue any service offered via our website at any time for any reason

  4. Provide information contained in any directory in other formats, that is: publications and online newsletters.

  5. Amend the Terms and Conditions at our discretion. We recommend you revise the Terms and Conditions regularly.

We will only publish groups whose:

  • activities are not-for-profit; exceptions will be made where the service is primarily in the areas of education, health and aged care

  • activities occur within the City of Greater Geelong or have specific relevance to the residents of Geelong (except entries in the Art Directory whose activities occur throughout the G21 region, including Surfcoast Shire, Colac Otway Shire, Golden Plains Shire and Borough of Queenscliffe).

  • activities are non-discriminatory and legal; groups will not in any submission made for publication on ourwebsite, include any material that breaches any law or regulation in force in Australia, including but not limited to the provisions of the following Acts:

    • the Racial Discrimination Act 1975

    • the Sex Discrimination Act 1984

    • the Disability Discrimination Act 1992

    • the Equal Opportunity Act 1995

    • the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act 2001

    • all other Acts governing discrimination, defamation and vilification in force in any other Australian jurisdiction and

    • the Trade Practices Act 1974

Please note that information provided in the listing details section of the community directory registration form will be made public. It is up to the listing owner to ensure any information they wish to remain private is not entered into the listing details section of the community directory registration form.

Updating a listing with myGeelong

Creating a myGeelong account

You can register for a myGeelong account via the registration page.

You will need to provide:

  • an email address (this will be your username)

  • a password

  • security questions and answers

Eligibility to register with myGeelong

Any person over 18 years of age can register.

Checking for a myGeelong account

When you register for an account, we send you an email to confirm you have registered.

Try logging in using your email address - the system will tell you if it recognises your username. If it doesn't, then you don't have an account set up.

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can request a new one.

Or you can try registering for a new account if you are unsure whether you have registered for myGeelong in the past.

If you think information for a listing is incorrect, you can submit an incorrect entry form which is found at the bottom of that listing page.
