This is your chance to be a part of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race festivities. Showcase your community spirit and creativity by decorating your home or business in support of this world-class cycling event.

Register below to be part of the competition, then get decorating for the big event 29 Jan – 2 Feb 2025 to claim your share of $2,000 worth of prizes.  

How to Participate

  1. Register below to be part of the competition. Select your competition entry category: ‘Home’ or ‘Commercial or Community’. Registrations close 12:00pm on Thursday 30 January 2025. 
  2. Get Creative: Decorate your space in the lead-up to the event from January 29 to February 2, 2025. We’ll be looking for vibrant colours, innovative designs, and sustainable materials. You could use recycled items like old bike parts, old fabric and clothing, cardboard boxes and more to create eye-catching displays. Judging will be conducted on Friday 31 January 2025
  3. Engage the Community: Encourage local residents to join in the fun. Host events, create themed decorations, and make your area a welcoming and exciting place for visitors and race participants.

Terms and Conditions

Competition details

  1. The promoter of this competition is the Greater Geelong City Council, 137-149 Mercer Street, Geelong VIC 3220, ABN 18 374 210 672 (City).
  2. Registrations are open from 9am on Wednesday 11 December 2024 to 12:00pm on Thursday 30 January 2025.
  3. Entries received after the closing time and date will be deemed ineligible.

Entries

  1. Entry is open to residents in the City of Greater Geelong municipality.
  2. By entering the competition, authorisation to publish entrant’s first name and suburb online is given. Entrants must be 12 years old or over on 11 December 2024.
  3. To enter this competition, you must register online, and have your home or business decorated in the lead-up to the event from January 29 to February 2, 2025. Judging will be conducted on Friday 31 January 2025. 
  4. By entering this competition, you agree for your details to be added to the Geelong Events database. Under no circumstances will the City share any entrant’s personal information with any third parties, partners, or affiliates.
  5. By entering this competition, you warrant to the City that you are eligible to enter this competition based on these terms and conditions.
  6. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms and conditions you should not enter the competition or accept any prize resulting from entry into the competition.
  7. Employees of the City of Greater Geelong are eligible for this competition.
  8. Employees and their immediate families of the City’s Marketing Office, Events Services Unit and those directly involved with this competition are ineligible to enter.
  9. The City reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process or who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions. Failure by the City to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  10. The use of false names (being names by which the entrant is not usually known) or false addresses will result in disqualification.
  11. There is a limit of one entry per household or business for this competition.
  12. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.

Prizes

  1. Judging will be conducted on Friday 31 January 2025.  Winners from each category will be selected by the judging panel and will be notified by email or phone Monday 3 February 2025.
  2. The City reserves the right to request winners provide proof of identity and proof of residency to claim their prize. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the promoter.
  3. The winners of the Best Dressed Home category will receive:
    • First Prize: An Adventure Park Season Pass for four people, valued at $540.
    • Second Prize: The Range @Culewis, Burger, Beverage, Balls Combo for six people, valued at $264.
    • Third Prize: A Dinning Voucher for At the Heads, Barwon Heads, valued at $200.
  4. The winners of the Best Dressed Business or Community category will receive:
    • First Prize: The Range @Culewis, Burger, Beverage, Balls Combo for ten people, valued at $440.
    • Runner up Prizes: One of 2 x Dinning Vouchers for At the Heads, Barwon Heads, valued at $250 each.
  5. This prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash.
  6. Unless otherwise stated, all costs incurred by a winner to accept or use the prize are the responsibility of the winner.

Judging Criteria

  1. Each valid entry will be judged by a panel of three representative of the City based on the following judging criteria: Community involvement, innovation, appearance, sustainable initiatives, and the use of Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in your display.
  2. This decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  3. If the address included is not within the City of Greater Geelong, it will be deemed ineligible.
  4. The winner will be notified by phone and email.
  5. The prize will be provided Monday 3 February 2025.
  6. The winner’s name will be published online at www.geelongaustralia.com.au and on the Events Geelong Facebook page on Monday 3 February 2025.
  7. The prize will be deemed unclaimed if the City, despite using reasonable efforts, is not able to deliver the prize to the winner in accordance with conditions 23.
  8. If this competition is interfered with in any way, or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated, due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the City (including vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike or inclement weather), the City reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law:
      1. to disqualify any entrant or,
      2. to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the competition, as appropriate.

Disclaimer

The City (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition, including but not limited to, the following:

  1. Any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the City’s control).
  2. Any theft, unauthorised access or third-party interference.
  3. Any entry, prize or claim for a prize that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether before or after receipt by the City) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the City.
  4. Any variation in prize value from that stated in these terms and conditions
  5. Any tax liability (including FBT) incurred by an entrant or winner or use of the prize.

  1. Privacy notice: The City of Greater Geelong collects the personal information in your entry for the purpose of conducting this competition and communicating about Christmas in Geelong. This information is collected and handled in accordance with the City’s Privacy Policy which is also available at our Customer Service Centres.
