Special skills and qualifications

We are looking for volunteers to perform the following roles on or before 4-5 May 2018:

  • Walker Monitors - To help M~M walkers stay safe and on the path – may require cycling experience.
  • Walking Circle Volunteers - To assist District Co-ordinators with the arrival and departure of Canoe and Flags, also helping escorting people in and around the Walking Circles
  • Station Volunteers – To assist in setting up and packing up the sites and stations.
  • Shuttle Bus Drivers - To drive M~M walkers and artists between Songline Stations.
  • Art-making Volunteers – Various tasks determined by nature of artworks and in consultation with District Coordinators/Artists. (May involve walking long distances while making or assisting with artwork).
  • M~M Promotions Volunteers - Promote the event in Central Geelong prior to the event.
  • Canoe Ambassadors – To carry Canoe, as part of a community team (conditions apply).

Terms and conditions/Declaration

Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions apply to all volunteers at the City of Greater Geelong:

  • Volunteering is a non-paid position.
  • Volunteers are expected to perform their volunteer tasks with due care, skill and diligence.
  • Volunteers are only covered for Public Liability Insurance and Personal Accident Insurance (subject to the terms and conditions of the policy), while they are registered and engaged as a volunteer in a volunteer position and where their volunteering activity on any day is approved and coordinated by the City of Greater Geelong.
  • Under the terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act volunteers must follow all established practices, procedures and instructions of Council which apply to their volunteer tasks.
  • Volunteers must report all hazards, incidents, injuries and property damage to their supervisor as soon as practicable.
  • Volunteers may need to hold a current Working With Children card.


  • You confirm that you have read and understood the above conditions.
  • You declare the information contained in your application is true and correct
  • You acknowledge that Council’s Personal Accident Insurance Policy only applies to volunteers up to the age of 90 years and that the acceptance of any claim is at the discretion of Council’s insurance company.
  • You acknowledge and understand that volunteers older than 90 years of age volunteer at their own risk, and that Council reserve the right to insist on the annual production of a medical certificate to confirm that such volunteers are fit to perform their relevant duties.
  • You declare that you understand the physical requirements of the volunteer role that you are applying for, including:
    • walking long distances while making or assisting with artwork
    • bearing a flagpole in a holder
    • steering a wheeled artwork
    • and advise Council of any health conditions that your impact on may ability to safely perform the functions of this role or that may lead to injury to yourself or others in the normal course of your duties.

Photo release details

Photographs will be taken on both days of the Mountain to Mouth event by staff of Arts and Culture and commissioned photographers including Geelong Camera Club.

As the volunteer listed on this registration, you allow the City of Greater Geelong to reproduce the image/s taken by the above-named photographer in their corporate communications and/or promotional materials.

  • You understand that the photograph/s will not be used for commercial purposes. 
  • You understand that the photos will be stored in the City of Greater Geelong photo library.

You also agree that the City of Greater Geelong may at its discretion assign the rights to reproduce the image/s to a third party for non-commercial purposes only.
