About Chris Burson

Describe yourself

I am a dedicated community leader with a strong foundation in service, built through my experiences in both the police force and the army. My background has instilled in me discipline, leadership and a deep commitment to upholding fairness and integrity in everything I do. Known for my approachable nature and problem-solving mindset, I combine my passion for community engagement with a lifelong dedication to serving others.

Why did you run for council?

I decided to run for council because my background in the police force and army has given me a strong sense of duty and a drive to serve my community. I want to use my leadership skills and experience to address local issues, represent our residents and create a safer, thriving environment for everyone.

Top three areas of focus during your term

  1. Facilities such as pools, aged care and maternal care.
  2. Serendip Sanctuary revitalisation.
  3. Basic services prioritised.

What does a ‘clever and creative’ Geelong region mean to you?

To me, a clever and creative Geelong means a city that embraces innovation and resourcefulness while staying deeply connected to its community roots. It’s about fostering opportunities for growth, encouraging new ideas and supporting collaboration to create a future where every resident can thrive.

Favourite thing about Greater Geelong?

Obviously, I am biased, but I love the You Yangs, trails, walks, views and being able to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere whilst only being five mins from Lara.
