Council
is inviting the community to another ‘Meet Your Councillor’ session at Wurriki
Nyal Civic Precinct ahead of the April council meeting, following the success
of last month’s trial.
Building
on the positive response to the trial on Tuesday 25 March, this informal
session offers the community an opportunity to speak directly with City of
Greater Geelong Councillors prior to their monthly meeting on Tuesday 22 April.
These
sessions are designed to provide additional time for public interaction beyond
the allotted question time in the Council Meeting. The informal setting
supports those looking to engage councillors without the pressure of public
speaking at Geelong City Hall.
Following
the same format as the trial session, community members are welcome to raise
questions outside of topics tabled for the April Council Meeting. Items on the
Council Meeting agenda cannot be discussed within the ‘Meet Your Councillor’
session.
Not
all City Councillors will be present at the session, however Council Officers
will be on site to provide support and answer questions where possible.
Geelong
Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM said the March session was beneficial to both the
public and City of Greater Geelong Councillors present.
Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM
Providing
the community with a direct channel to discuss concerns with their ward
councillor is important, and this session offers a valuable opportunity for
open dialogue.
We
were very pleased with the outcomes of our first Meet Your Councillor session
and we are eager to continue these conversations prior to the April Council
Meeting.
The
Meet Your Councillor session will take place in the foyer at Wurriki Nyal Civic
Precinct, 137-149 Mercer St from 4.45pm – 5.30pm.
The April Council meeting
will follow at City Hall at 6pm.
