The fOrT

The fOrT Youth Centre is a fun, safe and exciting place for all young people, aged between 12 and 25 years to attend and hang out with friends, with the brand new skate park located just outside.

It is open from Monday to Friday - follow our fOrT Facebook page for timetables.

The fOrT Youth Centre is situated on the corner of St Georges and Melbourne Roads in Stead Park, Corio. The fOrT is a regional facility that provides free programs and a safe space for young people to relax, socialise and interact with other young people in the community.

The fOrT provides important infrastructure to promote community connectedness, develop young people’s skills and interests and support alternative pathways to education and employment.

The fOrT offers high quality activities, development and support services for young people in the Northern Suburbs of Geelong and the surrounding areas. These include:

  • art classes/groups
  • cooking activities
  • Game On and Game On Evolved
  • free meals
  • music lessons
  • Event Planning
  • youth committees
  • promotion of multiculturalism
  • Koorie Youth Group.

Young people can initiate new activities, develop their skills in a particular area and socialise in a welcoming and friendly environment. The fOrT operates five days per week year round, including school holiday programs, workshops and long-term projects and events.

Resident youth workers and professional workshop instructors run activities, passing on their skills and experience in order to assist young people to achieve their goals. Service provision is available through key partnerships including:

  • Centrelink
  • Barwon Community Legal Service
  • Youth Agencies
  • Victoria Police
  • Schools and
  • Geelong Regional Libraries

On site youth workers play an important role in consulting and engaging with young people at the fOrT. Regular contact gives young people the opportunity to have their say in what happens at the centre. The fOrT employs young people in a variety of different areas which results in young people having a direct influence over the running of the centre and getting the chance to give ‘youth’ input.
