Owning a cat

Desexing

All cats must be desexed prior to being registered for the first time.

Cat curfew

There is a cat curfew in place in our municipality. This means your cat must be confined in a secured environment – that is, inside a building or enclosure – on your property from sunset to sunrise.

Roaming cats

The City offers a free cat trapping service within the municipality for residents experiencing nuisance cats on their property.

Report a roaming cat online to request to borrow a trap.

 Cat adoption

Geelong Animal Welfare Society has a pet adoption service. All pets purchased through GAWS will be desexed and microchipped before you take them home.
