In peak times, such as New Year’s weekend, it is estimated that the population of the Barwon region could increase by 50 percent to over 575,000 people.
The overnight population could reach almost 400,000 in Greater Geelong and the Borough of Queenscliffe, 100,000 on the Surf Coast and 50,000 in Colac Otway.
Population is estimated to triple in the regions bayside holiday towns, more than double along the coast and increase almost six-fold in towns along the Great Ocean Road past Torquay.
