Population Boom

Geelong is experiencing the fastest population growth in Victoria and ranking second nationally. In the year to June 2023, the City of Greater Geelong grew by 2.2 per cent adding 6,208 residents and bringing the total population to 282,809. The city’s sustained population growth is being driven by many factors including its proximity to Melbourne, affordable housing, diverse job opportunities and lifestyle.

Small Business Powerhouse

Geelong's economy thrives on the strength of its small businesses. With over 22,000 small businesses accounting for around 97 percent of all businesses in the region, they inject approximately $9 billion into the local economy.

In 2021, there were 26,000 knowledge and professional workers living in Greater Geelong, expanding to 35,000 when including the G21 region and 135,000 including Wyndham and western Melbourne. With the population of the Geelong-Wyndham corridor set to exceed 1,000,000 in the next 20 years, the talent pool is rapidly expanding.
