2025 Geelong Calendar Photography Competition is here

Thursday, 12 September 2024

The City of Greater Geelong is inviting photographers from across Geelong to submit their photos for a chance to feature on the cover of the 2025 City of Greater Geelong calendar.

Amateur and professional photographers of all ages are encouraged to get creative and submit an entry which shows the best of our region.

We want to see Greater Geelong through the community’s creativity and fresh eyes, taking in diverse perspectives of Geelong’s story, identity and natural environment.

With so many picturesque landscapes on our doorstep, there is no shortage of places to capture, from scenic views, beautiful beaches, and sprawling parks and gardens to heritage sites, laneways and urban areas.

The images will be shortlisted, and the public will vote on the final two photos to determine the calendar’s cover photo.

Last year’s calendar received over 530 submissions, with more than 15,000 people voting to decide the winners.

Based on customer feedback and in a move aimed at reducing waste and managing our finances wisely, calendars will be distributed differently this year to those who would like one.

Community members will be able to collect a calendar from one of our customer service centres.

The City of Greater Geelong customer service centres are:

  • Wurriki Nyal – 137-149 Mercer Street, Geelong
  • Corio Shopping Centre – Corner Bacchus Marsh and Purnell Roads
  • Boronggook Drysdale Library – 2-8 Wyndham Street, Drysdale.

Residents unable to collect a calendar from one of the City’s customer service centres will be able to register in advance via phone or an online form to receive one by mail.

Greater Geelong Mayor Trent Sullivan

Each year, we get the chance to see Greater Geelong through the lens of its residents, showing how diverse and unique our region is.

Our annual calendar photography competition is popular with the community and encourages residents with a passion for photography to celebrate what makes Greater Geelong special.

Councillor Melissa Cadwell

There is so much to capture in Geelong and its surroundings.

This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to share what they love most about Geelong. In each edition, I find something new to appreciate about our region.

The competition opens Friday 13 September and closes Friday 11 October.
