Arts Industry Commissions

The 2020-2021 Arts Industry Commissions are being delivered throughout the City of Greater Geelong.

The Arts Industry Commissions (AICs) were a direct outcome of the Geelong COVID-19 Arts Recovery (G-CAR) Panel (May 2020) in response to COVID-19 and the devastating effects on the arts, entertainment, creative and cultural industries within Greater Geelong.

Two projects, The Journey of Extraordinary Encounters and Deakin University’s Geelong Digital Outdoor Museum will be launched at Geelong Design Week.

Other projects nearing completion include 1850s Geelong Outdoor Performance in Johnstone Park Saturday 10 April and OK Motels Geelong at the Corio Bay Motel Saturday 17 April.

As a UNESCO City of Design, the Commissions further open opportunities for the work of our artists to be celebrated on an international stage, especially when Geelong hosts the upcoming City of Design SubNetwork Meeting from 10 to 13 October 2021 - and international gathering of UNESCO global Cities of Design.

The Artist Industry Commissions demonstrate the depth, strength and resilience of our creative and cultural community.
