Draft Highton Village Urban Design Framework

This engagement is open

Date: Monday, 28 August 2017 to Tuesday, 26 September 2017

The Urban Design Framework will provide an overall masterplan for the Village to guide long term investment by the public and private sector.

About 130 businesses and community members attended a design workshop in November to share their aspirations and help inform the draft plan for the village.

The proposed plan includes an exciting new public plaza in Belle Vue Avenue that includes plans for more trees and greenery, new seating and play areas, public art and space for alfresco dining and pop up events.

The new public open space plan allows most of the existing trees to be retained.

The draft plan also identifies how parking and traffic in the Village will be managed, streetscape upgrades for Barrabool Road and the laneways, design guidelines for new buildings to protect the low scale character of the village and long-term plans to manage heavy vehicle loading in the area.
