The Stadium Management Group will have overall management responsibility for the stadium including the Sports House. Via a Sports House Advisory Committee they will assist in setting the direction for Sports House, both at a policy and operational level.

Simonds Stadium Management is conducted by City of Greater Geelong staff since 2005. Based at Sports House, Stadium Management chairs Sports House, is responsible for the daily operations & management of Simonds Stadium and assumes the role of Precinct Manager for Kardinia Park (excluding Kardinia Pool and the Senior Citizens' Centre).

Geelong Football Club, nicknamed The Cats, is a professional Australian rules football club named after and based in the city of Geelong. Formed in 1859, Geelong is the second oldest club in the AFL after Melbourne and one of the oldest football clubs in the world.Along with its AFL team, the club also fields a stand-alone team in the Victoria Football league (VFL). Geelong Cricket Club is part of the Victorian Premier Cricket, the highest level of cricket in Victoria. Their home ground is Geelong Cricket Ground, Kardinia Park, just to the north of Simonds Stadium the home of the Geelong Football Club. The club was part of a joint venture with North Melbourne Cricket Club from 1985 to 1988 that was seen as assisting their bid for promotion from the sub districts to Victorian Premier Cricket, finally successful in 1993–94. The club is yet to win a premiership; their best effort was runner-up to Ringwood Cricket Club in 2007–08.

The Geelong Football Umpires League (GFUL) has been serving local Australian Rules Football in and around the Western District and Geelong regions since 1935. It is one of the largest umpiring groups in Australia with close to 270 active members, including males and females, who officiate in approximately 100 games of football each weekend. From 2006, the GFUL have been affiliated with the Victorian Country Football League (VCFL), supplying Field, Boundary and Goal Umpires to the Geelong Football League, the Bellarine Football League, the Geelong and District Football League and the Geelong Junior Football Leagues at football venues in an area stretching from Werribee to Colac and the Bellarine Peninsula.

St. Mary’s Sporting Club fields a Senior, Reserve, and 19 junior football sides from all different age groups along with a very successful Friday night Auskick program for over 130 children. The club also fields 4 senior and 17 junior netball sides. These teams and programs cater for netballers and footballers from primary school age to open age senior netball and football competition, and continue the emphasis on a strong junior program, long a tradition at St. Mary’s.
