New parking meters have been installed at 25 locations across the CBD since 2014, in addition to the upgrade of 252 existing meters.
A number of improvements have been made to the meters, including to eftpos, Mastercard and Visa services and enabling future service upgrades. The new parking meters have a paywave function, which is expected to be commissioned shortly.
A new parking app has also been introduced to make the parking experience much easier for customers. The ‘app’ known as EziCom ePAY, is available for download from the iTunes store or Google Play for Android phones, and download of the App is free.
The EziCom app enables customers with a smart phone to purchase parking without the need for a physical ticket, removing inconvenience of having to return to their car after purchasing a ticket. Reminders are provided if attempts are made to pay for a period longer than permitted, as well as 15 minutes prior to the parking period expiring, allowing customers to 'top up' remotely and without returning to their car.
