Temporary Food Permits
A Temporary Food Permit allows your Club, Association, Charity or Registered Food Premises to sell food off-site.
Under the Food Act 1984 the sale of beverages and alcohol are also considered as Food and therefore require a temporary food permit.
Clubs and Charitable Groups that currently do not have a Registered Food Premise or their Food Safety Program does not incorporate off-site food sales will have to adopt the Events Food Safety Program Template.
Why we do this
The public is entitled to expect the same diligence and regard for hygiene from
temporary food premises operators that permanent, operating premises would
afford.
Temporary Food Permits ensure that:
- The operator is aware of their responsibility to ensure that the preparation, storage and service of food at each venue is in accordance with specific guidelines.
- Any food handler has a clear understanding of what can cause contamination and food poisoning and be able to demonstrate the methods taken to minimise these risks.
- All food is displayed, served and stored in a manner that will protect it from contamination and spoilage.
What you can expect
We have Temporary Food Premises Guidelines that must be followed.
Should you believe that you need a Temporary Food Permit, we can send or fax out a form to you.
