Malop Street Green Spine Works Update

Week of 17 July – Weekly Look Ahead

This week the traffic management plan was approved, barriers were set up and removal of street furniture commenced:

Next week (week of 17 July) the contractors will:
  • Remove parking meters and other street furniture
  • Install site shed
  • Commence saw cutting of existing pavement
  • Commence excavation of existing pavement.

Works schedule
Demolition and excavation will take place from both the Moorabool St end and the Yarra St end on the south side of Malop Street while maintaining two-way traffic and pedestrian access on Malop Street. The central pedestrian crossing will be smaller but will continue to function throughout works.

Demolition and excavation will take place before 9am directly out the front of shops where possible.

Works from the Moorabool St end will be on the ‘botanic walk’ section. from the Moorabool Street corner to the Market Square loading dock.

Works from the Yarra St end will be on the footpath section from the Yarra Street corner to the Market Square loading dock.

Pedestrian access to shop fronts will be maintained during works.

Parking, loading zones and alfresco spaces

With the traffic management plan in place, all parking and loading bays on the south side have been permanently removed.

The loading dock into Market Square will be maintained and continue to operate as normal, until further advised. Traffic management will be in place where required to ensure safe use of the loading dock.

Hours of work
Our work crews will be in Malop Street from approximately 7am – 4pm, Monday 17 July – Friday 21 July.
