Geelong Council will rezone land in St Leonards to make way for a multi-lot staged subdivision at 321-399 Ibbotson Street.
The new estate would offer convenient access to the primary road network on the northern Bellarine, and was only a short distance to the St Leonards town centre and foreshore.
The land would be rezoned from Farming to General Residential 1.
A report from an Independent Planning Panel, appointed by the Minister for Planning, found the rezoning had strong strategic support.
The panel also found that lot density and provision and location of open space was appropriate for the area, he said.
