Urban Bike Lanes

We are increasing and improving bike lanes in city areas.

Barwon River - Waterfront Geelong

A cycling link between the Barwon River and Waterfront Geelong is now complete and provides a safe route through the city.

The new bike link includes separated pedestrian/bike lanes, road crossings and pedestrian infrastructure.

Bike lanes run along Swanston Street from McKillop St to Eastern Beach Rd, and connect with the previous works between McKillop St and John Landy Field.

The path will link the trails along the Barwon River to Corio Bay, providing a straightforward route for recreational cyclists.

Signage and clear line markings aim to keep cyclists well separated from cars.

In 2012 Eastern Beach Road will be improved as part of the road renewal program.

Carr Street, South Geelong

A cycling link along Carr Street provides a connection between the Bellarine Rail Trail, Swanston Street bike link, South Geelong Station and the Lonsdale Street path to Kardinia Park.
