Healthy Communities engages workplaces, schools and early learning centres as well as the community to strengthen Geelong’s prevention system. By addressing the underlying causes of poor health and putting the emphasis of healthy living back into local hands, we can create a healthier community.
Healthy Communities is using local partnerships and a skilled health promotion workforce to encourage healthy eating and physical activity, reduce smoking and harmful alcohol use and improving mental health. Learn more about why Geelong needs to focus on prevention for better health and how we are working within the Geelong community.
Schools and early learning services that work with Healthy Communities can access the following services for free: receive assistance with wellbeing policies and surveys; receive assistance to create health and wellbeing initiatives; be connected with health and wellbeing experts; attend networking events and workshops; receive access to tools to gain recognition for work in health and wellbeing.
There are a number of health and wellbeing plans and strategies across our region. View the current plans from various organisations as well as our Municipality Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2014-2017.
