The National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games (NITESG) began in 1996 as a joint class project between thirteen students enrolled in a Diploma of Aboriginal Studies (Community Recreation) at the then Wollotuka School for Aboriginal Studies, The University of Newcastle.
In 2017, Deakin Unviersity will host Games, 25 June - 29 June in Geelong.
The National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games (NITESG) began in Newcastle in 1996 as a project between 13 students at the Wollotuka School for Aboriginal Studies at the University of Newcastle. The NITESG sees a team of up to 16 athletes compete across four sports over the course of the week. These sports are Basketball, Netball, Touch Football and Volleyball. 2017 will mark the fourth year that Deakin has competed in the games.
