Enrol to Vote

Enrolling is easy, and you only need to enrol once to vote at Federal, State and Local Council elections.

All you need to do is complete and return an enrolment form.

You can obtain an enrolment form by:

  • Picking one up from any Post Office, Coles or Bi-Lo supermarkets.
  • Picking one up from the VEC office at Level 11, 530 Collins Street, Melbourne.
  • Having one sent to you by calling the Victorian Electoral Commission on 131 832.

Enrolling to vote - Do I have to enrol in Council, State or Federal elections?

Yes. It is compulsory to enrol if you:

  • are an Australian citizen
  • are aged 18 years or over
  • have lived at your current address in Victoria for at least one month

State Elections are run by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) and occur every four years.

The next Victorian State Election will be held in November 2014.
