First Inspections

Our Fire Prevention Officers will commence inspections in the North Area on 31 October 2011, in the Central Area on 14 November 2011 and in the East Area on 5 December 2011 You will need to ensure that your property complies by the appropriate dates and remains compliant.

Vacant land owners who have already received a courtesy letter and, who subsequently do not clear their property, will have it deemed as a fire hazard.  They will then be sent a Fire Prevention Notice which is an official direction stating a date that works must be completed by. It will also advise that an account for an Administration Fee of $60 will be forwarded as a result of non compliance having produced a direction notice and the need for a further inspection.

Properties with buildings, houses or, where owners have partially complied but are still deemed to be a fire hazard, will receive a Fire Prevention Notice only - without the Administration Fee. This Fire Prevention Notice will direct the owner to complete the works by a stated date.

Second Inspections

Second inspections will conducted from 21 November 2011. These are follow up inspections to ensure that the work directed to be completed has been undertaken.

If the work directed to be undertaken has not been completed, a Contractor Letter advising that Council is engaging a contractor to undertake the work will be sent. This will incur a fee of a minimum amount of $215. This will also incur an additional fee of $244 for the infringement of failing to comply with a Fire Prevention Notice.
