Parking near Hospitals

Tips for parking while at the hospital.

Try these places to park where there are usually plenty of spots available:

Near Geelong Hospital and Geelong Private Hospital
• Two hour parking on Swanston Street
(between Ryrie Street and Myers Street).

Near St John of God Hospital
• Two hour parking on Little Ryrie Street
(between Fenwick Street and Gheringhap Street)

• Two and three hour parking in Little Ryrie Street car park (between Gheringhap Street and Moorabool Street)

Changed parking zones
We have recently introduced a range of 2, 3 and 4 hour parking zones within close proximity to Geelong Hospital and
Geelong Private Hospital to assist patients and their families who require extended visits to the hospital.

Outpatients
Please be aware that scheduled appointments can often take longer than expected so park in spots that give you a reasonable amount of time to allow for delays.

Medical Emergencies
In the event of an emergency we understand that there’s not always time to find a car park that gives you a reasonable amount of time.

If you receive a parking ticket while at Geelong Hospital for an emergency situation, fill out a Barwon Health attendance validation form (available online from www.geelongaustralia.com.au or
phone 5272 5272), have it signed by the hospital’s staff and send it to us. The matter will be reviewed in a sensitive manner by our Ombudsman, who works closely with the hospital when
considering parking infringement appeals.

St John of God Hospital can also provide a letter validating that you were attending the hospital for a medical emergency. Call St John of God to arrange this. The letter will be used as evidence to consider withdrawing the parking fine.

Why do we need timed parking?
Central Geelong has 5,400 on-street car spaces.

We have a mix of timed parks including 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P (as well as 1/4P and 1/2P near ‘quick visit’ shops such as milk bars and drycleaners).

If we didn’t have time limits, cars would clog up spaces for longer making it very difficult for others to find a park.

Workers are encouraged to use our two park and ride services to free up car spaces for customers.
