Water Tanks
Water tanks are a popular way to help our water conservation efforts.
Water tanks can be installed at your property at any time.
Building Permits
A building permit is not required to install a water tank in a residential area but the overflow outlet must be connected to the property's stormwater system.
Purchasing a Water Tank
Water tanks can be purchased from Barwon Water as well as a number of commercial suppliers and hardware stores.
Regulations
Water tanks need to be:
- placed at least 1/2 metre (500mm) from the boundary fencing
- no higher than 3 metres high

Incentives may be available through Barwon Water on 1300 655 780 or the Victorian Government through the Target 155 campaign.
