Formula 1 racing car in action on Geelong’s Waterfront this Sunday

Formula One enthusiasts, car fanatics and families alike, there is something special about getting up close and personal with a champion of the motor racing world right here in Geelong.
This Sunday, 21 March, from 12 noon until 2pm there will be a Formula One racing car on display at Geelong’s Waterfront.
To get your blood pumping, the Formula One car will be doing a display drive by from the Youth Activities Area on the Waterfront through to its finishing place on Steampacket Gardens at around 12 noon.
The car will then remain on Steampacket Gardens for viewing and photographs.
City of Greater Geelong Major Events Portfolio Holder Cr Bruce Harwood said the display is a great opportunity for everyone to check out the powerful car.
“Whether you’re a car fan or a young child there is something very exciting about seeing this great car first hand.”
“Geelong has earned a reputation as a major events capital and we’re thrilled to bring a small piece of the Grand Prix to our city,” said Cr Harwood.
Well-known Geelong identity Darryn Lyons – in his role as Geelong Otway Tourism ambassador - was involved in bringing the Formula One car to Geelong.
“The ambassador program is all about creating opportunities like this which help boost Geelong’s profile as a tourist destination,” Cr Harwood said.

- K-Rock live promotions including giveaways
- Fox FM’s street team
- Performance by the Sweethearts of Swing (Jazz)
- Display of cars from the Western District Historical Vehicle Club
- BBQ, coffee and drinks available on site
