Central Geelong Urban Design Guidelines 2008
The Central Geelong Urban Design Guidelines direct the future form and height of buildings within Central Geelong.

The Guidelines identify the aspirations for buildings in the city centre while encouraging and facilitating new, high-quality development.

After considering public submissions, Council adopted the Central Geelong Urban Design Guidelines on the 14 October 2008. They will have affect after an Amendment to the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme, which will then require new development applications to be assessed for compliance with the Guidelines.

It is anticipated that by using these guidelines, substantial new development can be accommodated whilst protecting and enhancing the valued qualities of Central Geelong that make it a unique city. By guiding and encouraging growth, the Guidelines aim to strengthen Central Geelong's role in the region and the State. Sustainable development that responds to its context will further enhance Geelong as a place to invest, work, visit and live.
