Cr Bruce Harwood
Represents: Kardinia Ward
Bruce Harwood is a Belmont resident elected as a Councillor to Kardinia Ward in 2003. He was elected to the position of Mayor for two terms (2006 - 2008) and was Deputy Mayor from 2009 - 2010.
Bruce is currently the General Manager Business Development of Ecological Water Solutions. He has a very keen interest in the environment and well being of the community.
During his term as a Councillor Bruce has worked extensively on ensuring rate payers funding is going back to the community. Extensive renovations have occurred on all major sporting and community infrastructure. The completion of Leisurelink has been extremely successful with great services for the young through to the elderly available.
The environment has also benefited with extensive works along the Barwon River from the Breakwater Bridge right along to the Barwon Valley Fun Park.
Bruce also continues to concentrated on local needs and requests involving footpaths, unit development concerns and traffic movement.
In the next two years Bruce will focus on the medium density housing strategy and traffic movement in and out of Kardinia Ward, especially areas in and around the Shannon Ave / Mt Pleasant Rd / Barrabool Rd roundabout and High St. Bruce is also working very closely with the council officers and community in the critical areas of Finance & Strategic Development.
