Join a Youth Group
Our Youth Development Unit supports various youth committees and groups in the Geelong region.
These groups help build community spirit amongst young people and offer an environment of support.
Some groups are excursion based where young people can join in a range of activities, pastimes, and workshops; while others are volunteer groups that organise events for other young people.
These event groups can be a great stepping stone for a career in events other activity managing roles.
All groups are supported by qualified Youth Workers who assist young people in developing their skills and experience in order for young people to achieve.
Groups often run within these programs and places:
- Skate Program
Our Skate Program provides an extensive and positive recreational experience for young people interested in small-wheel sports (skateboarding, scooting BMX and rollerblading).
- The fOrT (fun Opportunities recreation Transend)
The fOrT is a youth centre in the northern suburbs of Geelong. A free activity-based program, provides a safe space for young people to relax, socialise and interact with other young people in the community.
- Youth Activities Area at the Waterfront
The Youth Activities Area is a dedicated outdoor plaza-style park, located at the Waterfront in Geelong. Containing an array of cutting edge design features, young people can participate in a range of physical activities or relax at this award-winning arena.
- Geelong Adolescent Sexuality Project (GASP)
GASP is a social and support service for young people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning their sexuality.
- The Piercing Truth Youth Magazine
A magazine, written by young people, and contains articles, news stories, fiction, games and health information aimed at young people and their peer groups.
