Skate Program

The City of Greater Geelong’s Skate Program provides an extensive and positive recreational experience for young people interested in small-wheel sports (skateboarding, scooting BMX and rollerblading).

The City of Greater Geelong has a dedicated Skate Team that have extensive experience in working with young people from a variety of backgrounds. Our staff are skilled skaters who hold qualifications recognized by the Australian Sports Commission.

The City of Greater Geelong Skate Program covers:

  • Tuition
    Structured skateboarding training sessions suitable for skateboarders of all ages and skill levels.
  • Competitions
    Facilitation, and assistance in organizing competitions such as the Bellarine Peninsula Skate Series and the Northern Skate Series.
  • Ramps
    Portable set of ramps, with 2 staff, available for hire at community events. Suitable for most indoor and outdoor spaces.
  • Friday Night Skate
    Running for over 20 years, supervised freestyle skate sessions, every second week during school terms. Fridays 7-10pm, cost $5. Barwon Valley Activity Centre, Barwon Heads Rd, Belmont (across the road from K-Mart).
     
  • Skate School Holiday program
    Various Skate/BMX/Scooter activities each school holidays, including competitions, tuition, excursions to Skate Parks and portable ramps at locations around Geelong.
  • Skate Committees
    The Skate Program often runs committees who do things such as run events, assist in the design of new skate parks and assist in skate competitions. Theses committees run when needed, if you are interested in joining one of these, please contact us below.
  • Skate Newsletter
    Free quarterly newsletter available by mail or email, listing all upcoming events and activities within the Skate Program.

Skate Parks

The City of Greater Geelong has a variety of Skate Park facilities for all skill levels of Skateboarders, Scooters and BMX riders.

The City of Greater Geelong strongly advises the wearing of appropriate safety gear when using its Skate Parks for any sporting activity. Compulsory wearing of helmets is enforced at all Skate/BMX/Scooter events.
