Old Post Offices Youth Services

The Old Post Office Youth Services is ‘one-stop’ shop for a range of ‘youth friendly’ services including youth welfare, support, training, employment and housing across the region.

The historic building, located at the Old Post Office, 83 Ryrie St, Geelong 3220 (Corner Gheringhap and Ryrie), has been refurbished in past years, and a redevelopment of the reception area was completed in 2010 as part of the Nation Building Community Infrastructure Program.

The Old Post Office became home to the Youth Development Unit – City of Greater Geelong, in 1994. Over time the building has evolved and is now a unique centre for many youth agencies.

In the ‘Youth Services Strategy 2007-2011’, we recognised ‘that it is extremely important to maintain the Post Office building as a key location of a range of services for young people’. The model we developed has been used in a national study on service developments for young people and used by councils across Victoria and interstate.

Youth organisations currently housed in the Old Post Office include:

Please note: Each organisation has different criteria relating to the services they provide and the age group they target. Please see the individual organisation for their guidelines and programming.
