Chilling out and Heavy Metal don’t often go side by side, but this Friday night young people can enjoy both at The Potato Shed.
Young people heading to Crash Course Productions’ Heavy Metal Night will be able to retreat to a ‘chill out’ room provided by Drug Action Week organisers.
The room will provide a space for participants to relieve their ear drums as well as offering free show bags with information about drug use and misuse.
Short films about drug and alcohol issues will also be shown in the room.
A variety of activities have been held this week for Drug Action Week, including free movie screenings, book talks and community information sessions aimed at raising community awareness of drug issues in the community.
“Drug Action Week is a significant opportunity for young people and their parents to learn about drug use issues in our community and tackle the confronting issues head on,” said Cr Jan Farrell, who holds the portfolio for Education and Youth.
The Heavy Metal night will run from 6pm-10.30pm, featuring headline band A Fallen Theory plus five other bands.
Tickets are available at the door for $10. This is a drug, smoke and alcohol free event.
