The July school holidays will be a flurry of free activities for students of all ages, thanks to the City of Greater Geelong’s Youth Development Unit.
There will be plenty of fun and unique activities on offer, including a Cheer Leading lesson with a professional teacher for girls and boys at Lara Secondary College, on Tuesday 30 June. No experience necessary – and you get to take your pom-poms home!
Another event on the same day that will be popular is The Big Day In at the Leopold Indoor Neighbourhood Centre.
The Big Day In has crammed in as much fun and entertainment as possible in one day – including; X Box and Wii games, 3 on 3 basketball comps, movies, food, temporary tattoos, skateboarding, jewellery/badge making, ‘Make Overs’, stilt walking, African drumming, circus skills and a chocolate fountain!
Other activities students can enjoy include Plastic Jewellery Making at Lara Secondary College, Silk Flag Making Workshops and a ‘Girls Day In’ at the Cloverdale Community Centre, a ‘Fun Day In’ at Rosewall Community Centre and a Console Gaming Day at City Hall.
“Geelong school students have no excuse for boredom these school holidays,” said Cr Jan Farrell, who holds the Youth and Education portfolio.
“Our Youth Development Unit has once again produced a variety of activities to ensure that there is something for every student to enjoy.”
“It’s great to see so many fantastic events encouraging students to get active and involved in the community,” Cr Farrell said.
School Holiday Skate Activities will also be held at Skate Parks across the region from Tuesday 30 June – Friday 10 July.
