Geelong is a multicultural city, home to people from many countries.
20 per cent of the people in Geelong are from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
And the population is continually changing. Over the last four years for example we have had humanitarian arrivals to Geelong of Karen and Kareni people from Burma, Sudanese and most recently Congolese people.
We have a range of social, economic and cultural programs to support the development of people, groups and networks to encourage full participation in our local civic life.
Diversitat also known as the Geelong Ethnic Communities Council, provides a range of multicultural services and is the main provider of settlement support to the new arrivals to Geelong.
