Maternal and Child Health 

The Maternal and Child Health service provides information, advice and support to those caring for babies and young children.


Using their expertise in normal development and behaviour of children aged up to 6 years, our team of specialist nurses and child health workers carry out health and development reviews via home visits and appointments at Maternal and Child Health Centres.

New parent groups
First time parents are invited to attend new parents groups. These groups aim to provide opportunities to share ideas, establish friendships and gain educational information.

Teenage parents
Teenage parents can be assisted through the Enhanced Home Visiting Service.

Baby weighing
When the centre is open, parents are welcome to weigh their own baby on the scales in the baby change area.

You are welcome to use the scales at the Maternal Child Health centres. It is best to phone before attending to ensure the centre will be open.
