Community Festival Grants
The Community Festival Grants Program supports community cultural festivals and events held in the Geelong region.
The Community Festivals Grant Programme is a Council initiative to further strengthen community festival activities across the municipality and, in doing so, celebrate the diverse and unique communities within the City of Greater Geelong.
The Programme is available to groups seeking to develop festivals which complement the cultural life of the Geelong community.
Community Festivals Grants are available in three categories:
1. One-off
This grant provides up to $6,000 to support festival-type events that feature a diverse arts and cultural programme, but that only occur once, such as a major 100th anniversary celebration for a historical building.
The application period for the Community Festivals Grant (One-Off) 2011/2012 round is now closed.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application in early September 2011. :
2. Development
This grant provides up to $6,000 seed funding for new and emerging festivals which plan to continue to develop and/or grow. Festivals may re-apply annually as often as desired.
The application period for the Community Festivals Grants (Arts Project) 2011/2012 round is now closed.
Applicants were advised of the outcome of their application in September/October 2011.
Details of the 2012/13 Grant round will be announced by May 2012.:
3. Triennial
The Triennial grant provides support for well-established community festivals which have demonstrated strong potential to develop and/or grow.
Requests for funding above the $6,000 cap will be considered, however to be considered, the festival must demonstrate a pre-requisite proven track record of at least three successful years of operation, and demonstrate sound project management and community development principles in planning, participation and provision of arts and cultural opportunities.
Triennial Appication submission is a three-part process:
Part 1 - Festival Assessment;
Part 2 - KPIs Development; and
Part 3 - Agreement and Reporting.
Part 1 is submitted online and assessed during the regular July Grant round (this round is now closed).
Festivals that are successful in Part 1 will be invited to work with the Arts & Culture Department to develop Part 2 (KPIs) and Part 3 (Funding Agreement).
Festivals that are not successful in Part 1 of their Triennial application will be automatically transferred to the Community Festivals Grant (Development) stream for consideration, and will be scored in the context of other festival applications in that stream.
Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their Part 1 submission in the first week of September 2011.
Further details are available by contacting Justyn Rowe at the Arts and Culture Unit on 03 5272 4703.
