The Minister for Planning approves two important amendments
December 2008
The Minister for Planning has approved two important
amendments which relate to the Armstrong Creek growth
area.
Amendment C138 puts in place a strategic framework for
the development of the growth area, allowing further
detailed planning work to be undertaken. This amendment
approves the Framework Plan.
Amendment C170 applies the Urban Growth Zone to the
majority of land located within the Urban Growth
Boundary, reserving the land for future urban
development.
Premier John Brumby visited the growth area to
announce the approval of the amendments stating “Today
we are not just releasing land; we begin building a new
community. There won’t just be homes and jobs, but
schools, retail space, parks, open space, bike paths and a
place for the people of the region to create a home.”
The Minister for Planning said “This land will enable
around 22,000 new jobs to be created. This suburb will
also allow Geelong to deliver more housing and
sustainable housing choices for its diverse and growing
population.”
