Wandana Heights is a residential suburb, past Highton, 4km south-west of Geelong city.
Description
This up-market residential suburb is known for its fine new homes, its wide, well-serviced streets, parks, gardens and impressive views over Geelong. Drewan Park contains a superb lookout and barbecue facilities and is just one of several reserves in the suburb. Closer to Highton, one reserve contains the local tennis club and hall. Wandana Heights is served by the schools and shopping centres of Highton. It is just north of Waurn Ponds and world-class universities and colleges. Courts and closed streets add a neighbourhood feel to the suburb, which is just 10 minutes from Geelong city, 50 mins from Melbourne and 25 mins from the Surfcoast.
History
A new suburb, Wandana Heights was developed on orchard and farming land in the 1960s. Housing developments over the past 30 years continue today. Situated in the Barrabool hills overlooking the Barwon River and the city, Wandana Heights has excellent natural advantages. More recently, superb apartments and townhouses are being built on its curved streets.
