Location
Marcus Hill lies north of Ocean Grove and south of the Bellarine Highway, about 16km south-east of Geelong city.

Description
South of the Bellarine Highway to Queenscliff, between Grubb Road and Banks Road, Marcus Hill is closest to Ocean Grove and its shops and facilities. But Marcus Hill is also a short drive from Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff. The original settlement was probably closer to the low swamp and the wetlands around Queenscliff. Today, residents take advantage of the busy Bellarine Highway to transport orchard and market garden products or to sell their wares to passing tourists and local commuters.

History
The name Marcus Hill derived from the hill near Banks Road and in 1865 it was a small hamlet about 6.4km west-south-west of Queenscliff. The small rural population of farm workers and brickmakers was isolated from Queenscliff and Geelong. Church services began about 1863 in a thatched hut, then in a brick building that also served as a Sunday school. In 1882, the 1870 school was moved to the Queenscliff Road and a local resident petitioned successfully for a railway station to be built.
