Founded in 1985 the Friends are a volunteer support group for the Geelong Botanic Gardens.

The Association is semi autonomous and self funding. The Friends have established a sound financial base and all funds raised are returned to specific Geelong Botanic Gardens projects.

There are over 470 members and approximately 140 are directly involved in a wide range of activities. The Friends activities involve: plant sales, tea house, guided walks, library, newsletter, events program, perennial border.
