July School Holiday Program

Monday 30 June to Friday 11 July, 2008

Cooking in the Woolshed!

Warm up your winter school holidays at the National Wool Museum.

To coincide with our exhibition "Baitlayers and Babbling Brooks - An Exhibition of Shearers' Cooks" the Museum is holding special cooking sessions for kids which provide an opportunity to learn all about the folklore, history, recipes and working conditions of a typical shearers' cook.

Kids can find out what it takes to fuel a shearer, and then help us cook some authentic shearers' buns! Once the buns come out of the oven, they can share them with their family within the authentic surrounds of a woolstore.

Dates and times for the cooking sessions are:

Monday 30th June - 10am and 11am
Wednesday 2nd July - 10am and 11am
Friday 4th July - 10am and 11am

Monday 7th July - 10am and 11am
Wednesday 9th July - 10am and 11am
Friday 11th July - 10am and 11am

Suitable for children aged 6-12. Bookings for cooking sessions are essential and places are limited to ten children per group.

A cost of $5 per child includes cooking and entry to the Museum. All children must be accompanied by an adult at a cost of just $3.65 per adult, including tea or coffee. Costs include all materials and refreshments.

Bookings and further information is available by contacting the National Wool Museum on 03 5227 0701 or email nwminfo@geelongcity.vic.gov.au or download a flier by clicking here.
