2008 Expressions Wool Quilt Prize

From Here to Eternity
The Australian Merino, Quilt, by Lisa Davis

Offered biennially, Expressions: The Wool Quilt Prize is a visual feast of colour, design and texture celebrating the art of contemporary wool quilt making and design.

Expressions 2008 has now finished and work has begun on Expressions 2010. The Winner of Expressions 2008 was Jo Steele, for her quilt titled "Green Ladder". From Katoomba NSW, Jo won the acquisitive prize of $3,000 and her quilt will join the prestigious wool quilt collection held at the Museum.

The Highly Commended prize went to Kim Pitcher for her work titled "Remember Clara". Kim is from Upper Beaconsfield, Vic and has also entered previously though never taken out a prize before.

This year for the first time the Exhibition included a People's Choice Award, with all visitors to the exhibition eligible to vote for their favourite quilt.

The winner of the People's Choice was announced at the conclusion of the exhibition in February 09 and went to Lisa Davis for her quilt titled The Australian Merino - A Tribute to Three Wise Men. Congratulations Lisa!

Morgan Will received second place in the votes for The Circle of Life and Dianne Firth came third for Cell Structure #7.
