Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver meals to the City of Greater Geelong Aged & Disability Services clients. The Food Service provided by Aged & Disability Services is designed to provide nutritionally balanced meals to the aged and frail in our community to assist in maintaining independence in their own homes.

The Meals on Wheels program has approximately 400 committed volunteers. Many have been long serving volunteers for more than 20 years with a few involved for over 30 years! They range in age from 18 to 80 plus. The volunteers deliver 160,000 meals per year to people assessed as nutritionally at risk. They deliver from seven centres across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula. As well as the meals program, the volunteers provide important social contact and their visits help the City to monitor the health and wellbeing of the clients.

The City of Greater Geelong is seeking volunteers to join our teams throughout the region. All you need is enthusiasm and a smile and about 1½ to 2 hours to spare on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Most meals are delivered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Volunteers work in pairs and you can be a driver or "jockey" (assistant).
